Update for FAQs on IT security, February 12, 2019

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the past weeks we have made significant progress in IT security. Frequently asked questions on IT security:

1. Are customer systems affected?

No. To our present knowledge, customer systems are not affected.

2. When will the resumption of regular operation and smooth operation be ensured?

We assume that our systems will for the most part be restored by the end of the first quarter.

3. What is the current status in China and Mexico?

At both locations, we are following the same procedure as in Munich, Sucany and other locations. We are working strictly in accordance with a priority list, on which China and Mexico naturally also have their place.

4. What are we doing to ensure that all systems run as usual as fast as possible?

We are working at full steam and doing everything humanly possible. The route to normal operation is completely clear to us. Since the attack on November 21, we have taken hundreds of measures. Furthermore, since then we have had three external teams of experts in the company, as well as a worldwide renowned Security Officer.

5. What will we do differently in future?

We have already implemented a large number of ad hoc improvements. In future, we will monitor our systems even more intensively and continually optimize our security level. We will modernize our security architecture both with technical and with organizational measures. In addition, we will implement a cloud strategy. Above all, in the coming months we will make very large investments in IT security.

6. When can retrofit quotations again be made and processed?

Retrofit quotations and orders can meanwhile again be processed. The large backlog of orders that has arisen on account of system standstills caused by the cyber attack will now be prioritized and dealt with as fast as possible.

Update customer information of December 20, 2018

Ladies and Gentlemen,

For the KraussMaffei Group, the past year was a year of tradition and change. We celebrated our 180th anniversary and laid an important foundation for the future of our company. For us, this future lies in innovative service offerings and a new dimension of digitalization.

At the end of November, however, we were hit by a cyber attack. This malicious and criminal attack was aimed at forcing us into paying ransom. It was necessary to shut down our network, thus protecting multiple systems and sites. We gradually reboot the systems and are on our way back to normal.

Our priority continues to be our customers. The past few weeks have shown just how deep the relationship between our customers and the KraussMaffei Group really is. Despite all the adversities, this has been very encouraging for us and gives us an additional incentive to overcome the remaining difficulties.

Until then, best wishes for a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year.

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Frank Stieler
CEO
